JAKARTA - PT United Tractors Tbk (UNTR) revealed that it is intensifying its sustainability strategy, namely launching electric and hybrid tractors.

UNTR Corporate Secretary, Sara K. Loebis explained that as a distributor of heavy equipment with the Komatsu brand, he is developing hybrid technology between fuel oil (BBM) and electricity with a medium type with a tonnage of 20 tons.

However, Sara conveyed that interest in hybrid heavy equipment was not as high as the previous tool because, in terms of price, it could be said that it was not competitive, so only some customers were in demand.

"In Indonesia, there are still selected customers who want hybrid concerns. Indeed, the emission is lower, but if it's a competitive matter, it hasn't," Sara said on Astra Media Day, Wednesday, September 18.

Although market interest is not yet high, Sara said the company has introduced an electric excavator. However, it is not ready to be marketed because it is still in the testing phase.

In addition, Sara said that her party continues to ensure that conventional Komatsu heavy equipment continues to innovate, namely by having a more efficient burning so that fuel consumption will be more efficient.

"Because this is one of our missions for sustainability, and regarding more environmentally friendly heavy equipment technology," he said.

Sara gave an example of one of her subsidiaries, PT Pamapersada Nusantara, which has implemented environmentally friendly technology by deploying bio fuel B30 for fueling heavy equipment so that the emissions issued are less than others.
