JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that the proposal to transfer ports into imported goods will be discussed with Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) tomorrow.

Remembering, Jokowi will hold a plenary cabinet meeting in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) on Friday, September 13, 2024.

"If given the opportunity by the President (Jokowi) I will convey it," said Agus when met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, September 12.

Agus said he had sent a letter to President Jokowi regarding the proposed transfer of the import port.

However, he said, until now there has been no further discussion. "I have written a letter to the president for the point of entry in the east, I have written it down. But, if later given the opportunity I will try to (submit it)," he said.

Even so, Agus has not been able to confirm further regarding the discussion. Given, he said, usually the plenary cabinet meeting only discusses macro matters.

"For tomorrow, the plenary cabinet meeting usually does not discuss very technical issues, only macro. The limited meeting (Ratas) usually discusses technical issues," he added.

Based on VOI records, Minister of Industry Agus said that discussions regarding the transfer of entrances or entry points for imported goods to eastern Indonesia will soon be met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the fourth week of August.

This was conveyed by Agus after attending a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission VII DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, August 26.

"The material is almost finished and God willing, the day after tomorrow we will go to the President (Joko Widodo) to ask (to hold) Ratas (limited meeting)," said Agus.

He said the diversion of the entrance would be applied to seven industrial commodities, such as textiles and textile products (TPT), finished clothing, ceramics, electronic devices, beauty products, finished textiles and footwear.

"So it's not tightened. Enter Indonesia please, yes. But, for these 7 commodities we will determine the entrance through ports in eastern Indonesia," he said.

However, until now, Ratas to discuss the proposed transfer of the imported goods port has not yet been carried out.
