DEN Secretary General Says Indonesia's First PLTN Is Ready To Operate 2032

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the National Energy Council (Sekjen DEN) Djoko Siswanto ensured that Nuclear Power Plants (PLTN) in Indonesia are ready to operate in 2032.

According to Djoko, this is in accordance with the revised Government Regulation (PP) on the National Energy Policy (KEN) that has been agreed upon.

"In PP KEN, it's like that. There is already electric nuclear (2032), it's already on stream, it's COD (Commercial Operation Date)," Djoko said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 11.

The construction of the first 250 megawatt PLTN facilities in Indonesia will begin soon.

Djoko said that one of the investors in the PLTN development was PT Thorcon Power Indonesia, which had submitted its proposal to the DEN. Furthermore, the investment value of this PLTN is estimated at IDR 17 trillion.

Previously, the Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Eniya Listiani Dewi, said that the Indonesian government would immediately build an on-grid nuclear power plant (PLTN) facility of 250 megawatts in 2032.

"In the National Energy Policy that was knocked last night, it's nuclear entering 2032, on-grid. So from now on we have to prepare. It's only been nine years. This must be prepared 250 megawatts on-grid. It's on the track," he said.

He said that to realize this, it is necessary to develop human resources (HR), and choose a clearing technology (clear technology) scheme, including a small modular reactor (SMR), a high-temperature gas (HTGR) or thorium reactor.

"This must be chosen as the right technology," he also said.

Furthermore, he said that for security issues, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources would form a national nuclear organization that oversees and oversees the development of PLTN.

He said the organization would be under the coordination of his party.
