Ministry Of Transportation Reveals Chronology Of Trigana Air Plane Fails To Release Landas At Serui Airport Papua

JAKARTA - The ATR 42 series 500 Trigana Air PK-YSP aircraft reportedly failed to take off at Stevanus Rumbewas Serui Airport, on their way to Sentani Airport. The incident occurred today, at 10.40 WIT.

Director General of Civil Aviation, M. Kristi Endah Murni revealed the chronology of the incident. He said, initially the plane landed from Biak at 10.19 WIT and parked at 10.21 WIT.

Then, continued Kristi, at 10.35 WIT the plane prepared to take off to Sentani Jayapura Airport. Only one minute later the plane slipped to the left with a position of 1,200 meters from the take off runway in use 28.

Furthermore, Kristi said that the cause of the Trigana Air plane's slip is still under investigation.

"I have ordered the Head of the Class III UPBU Office Stevanus Rumbewas Serui to continue to monitor and coordinate with all relevant parties in the evacuation and handling process from the impact of this incident," he said in an official statement, Monday, September 9.

Kristi said the plane was carrying 42 passengers, and six crew members on board. Of the 48 total passengers, all survived. However, some of the passengers were injured.

Furthermore, Kristi also said that injured passengers were being evacuated to the Serui regional general hospital (RUSD).

The initial information is that all passengers and crew on board are safe. Some were injured and currently being evacuated to be taken to Serui Hospital," Kristi said.
