BANDUNG - The Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) owned by PT PLN (Persero) located in Bandung Regency, West Java, now not only produces electricity, but also becomes a producer of green hydrogen through the Green Hydrogen Plant (GHP).

For information, this GHP is the 22nd one built by PLN and will supply green hydrogen to the Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) Senayan.

"Green hydrogen produced at the Kamojang GHP is produced from condensed water in the electricity production process at the Kamojang PLTP," said UBP Kamojang Senior Manager Ibnu Agus Santosa, Wednesday, September 4.

Operating since 1982, the Kamojang PLTP utilizes natural potential in the form of the best geothermal steam in the world to produce clean electricity.

This achievement makes PLTP Kamojang the first power plant owned by PLN Group to receive a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) certification since 2021.

Located in Laksana Village, Ibun District, Bandung Regency, West Java, the Kamojang PLTP is capable of producing 140 MW of electric power, which is used to meet electricity needs in Region 2 West Java.

Ibnu said this step marks PLN's commitment to continue developing new renewable energy to support environmental sustainability and achieve NZE targets.

"With the GHP at the Kamojang PLTP, we hope to be an innovation that continues to develop in producing environmentally friendly products and become one of the Beyond kWh from PLN Group, From Green to Greener," concluded Ibnu.
