RI Needs Investment Of 14.2 Billion US Dollars To Increase EBT Electricity Capacity To 8.2 GW

JAKARTA - Indonesia is known to need an investment of at least US$14.2 billion to increase EBT's electric capacity to 8.2 Giga Watt (GW).

"We need investment until next year (2025) investment of up to 14.2 billion US dollars to increase the capacity of renewables to 8.2 gigawatts (GW). We can increase the renewable energy mix next year from 13 percent to 21 percent," said Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Eniya Listiani Dewi quoted Wednesday, September 4.

According to Eniya, increasing the electrical capacity of EBT according to the target in 2025 is not a necessity but requires very large investment funds.

"So it really takes a lot of money, but it's not impossible," said Eniya.

Eniya revealed, several renewable energy sources in Indonesia whose potential availability is sufficient, even some are abundant, such as diesel with a potential of 3,294 GW, 155 GW of wind, 95 GW of water sebelasqr, 63 GW of sea currents, 57 GW of BBN and 23 GW of geothermal.

Untuk sumber energi panas bumi yang potensilnya sangat besar dan berperan penting dalam mewujudkan NZE, Eniya mengatakan, sudah menawarkan pengembangannya kepada investor.

"Indonesia has the potential for abundant geothermal energy sources to reach 23.6 GW with 2.6 GW utilized so that its availability for use is still very open. We have offered it to various parties and now some have been developed. We still offer investors who are interested in developing geothermal in Indonesia," said Eniya.
