Freeport Boss Signals The Inauguration Of Gresik Smelter's First Production Inauguration Inaugurated By Jokowi Next Week

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) Tony Wenas revealed that the production of the single line copper smelter owned by PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) located in Gresik, East Java is planned to be inaugurated next week.

Tony said that the inauguration of this inaugural production will be carried out by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)

"It's already operational ( Gresik smelter). It's ready for production and hopefully next week the President will inaugurate it," Tony said when met by the media at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Building, Thursday, August 22.

Previously, the investment value of Smelter Manyar in Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate (JIIPE), Gresik, East Java, reached US$3.7 billion or equivalent to Rp58 trillion.

Previously, on June 27, the commissioning process was inaugurated and took 6 to 10 weeks to produce.

On the same occasion Tony also revealed the progress of export copper concentrate that has been carried out since being granted permission by the government. He also ensured that the accumulation to be exported by the end of the year remained at 900,000 tons.

"We just got permission in June the 20s and June 20s until now, it's only been 2 months. Maybe a month we can be 150,000 tons. About 150,000 x 6 months can be 900,000. Hopefully, just pray. So state revenues can be bigger," concluded Tony.
