The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources And The DKI Provincial Government Agree On The Development And Supervision Of Electricity Business

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Directorate General of Electricity and the Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region (DKI) Jakarta agreed to jointly carry out guidance and supervision of the implementation of electricity businesses in DKI Jakarta Province.

This was stated through the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Director General of Electricity Jisman Hutajulu and the Secretary of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta Joko Agus Setyono in Jakarta, Thursday, August 22.

Jisman in his speech emphasized that the existence of this memorandum of understanding is expected to serve as a guideline between the Directorate General of Electricity and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to cooperate in fostering and supervising the implementation of electricity businesses which are expected to support the implementation of electricity policies in DKI Jakarta Province.

"This cooperation is expected to encourage the implementation of coaching and supervision in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations in the field of electricity, especially those that support electricity safety implementation programs in DKI Jakarta Province," said Jisman, Thursday, August 22.

On that occasion, Joko Agus Setyono also conveyed that the signing of this memorandum of understanding was an important step to reduce the risk of fires due to electricity that often occur in DKI Jakarta.

Joko said the benefits of this synergy are also to support the city of Jakarta as a global city that requires sophisticated and reliable electricity infrastructure to support economic activities and daily life. Supervision and electricity development are expected to ensure that city energy infrastructure functions efficiently, meets safety standards, supports renewable energy initiatives and ensures that the electricity system can meet the demands of cities that continue to grow rapidly.

"The benefits of this synergy are for better coordination, improving service quality, tighter supervision, increasing energy security and supporting energy infrastructure," said Joko.

Joko said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is very concerned about the safety of electricity to avoid disasters such as fires due to electrical shorts or people dying from electrocution in public facilities.

As is known, the scope of this memorandum of understanding includes guidance, supervision and control, data exchange and information, providing support for the resolution of problems in electricity business, and monitoring and evaluation in the field of electricity business.
