KHE Affirms Commitment To Accelerate And Progress Of Hydropower Plant Kayan Cascade At Business Meetings In Jakarta

JAKARTA PT Kayan Hydro Energy (KHE) will soon realize the Kayan Cascade hydropower project in Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan. This strategic project is important in transitioning Indonesian energy from fossils to new and renewable energy.

Eko Hadipermanana, representing the holding that houses KHE, expressed his commitment to accelerate the implementation of this project following government programs. "We are committed to realizing this project as soon as possible. This follows the energy transition program launched by the Indonesian government," said Eko after the Business Dinner on an Investment Opportunity in Kayan Hydro Power Energy at the Fairmont Hotel Jakarta, on Monday, August 19.

According to Eko, this forum is an important step in finding investors who will cooperate with KHE on an equivalent basis. "We and investors will invest in the same position," he added.

Sapta Nugraha, Director of KHE Operations, explained that project preparations were already underway, including land clearing and construction of roads and bridges to the location. "KHE has started initial work for the Kayan Cascade hydropower project, such as land clearing and building supporting infrastructure," explained Sapta.

Meanwhile, Dr. Edi Prio Pambudi, Deputy Coordinating Minister for International Economic Cooperation who was also present, emphasized the importance of managing the Kayan River in accordance with the Basic Law. "The management of the Kayan River must remain under the control of the Indonesian government, given the importance of this project for the community," said Edi.

He also emphasized that the government will continue to assist and encourage KHE in the implementation of this project. "The government must be present to ensure this big project runs according to plan and does not cause problems in the future," he said.

Steven Kho, KHE Executive Committee, revealed that licensing for this project is indeed complex and takes a long time. "For a project of this size, the licensing takes about 60 and takes years to obtain," he explained.

This business meeting was attended by representatives from various Japanese companies, including Itochu Corporation, Sojitz Indonesia, Marubeni Corporation, Tokyo Electric Power Company, and Sumitomo Corporation, as well as representatives of the Japanese Embassy for Indonesia.

The Kayan Cascade hydropower project by PT KHE is one of the largest energy projects in Indonesia with great potential to support energy transition and increase environmentally friendly electricity supply. This project offers bright prospects for the energy future in Indonesia.
