JAKARTA - PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) continues to increase its contribution to the welfare of the community through the agricultural sector. This time the Company implemented the Tajumase Program (Tani Maju Makmur Sejahtera) in two villages in Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This program was officially launched by the Director of Human Resources Pupuk Indonesia, Tina T. Kemala Intan in Hadakewa Village and Wowong Village, Lembata Regency, Thursday 15 August is also part of the Bakti BUMN Batch VI Volunteer Program.

Tina said that this program is a medium for Pupuk Indonesia to be able to contribute to the welfare of the community. The program is targeted to last for the next three years so that it can invite people in two villages where the majority of fishermen can use their yards to plant in order to realize food and economic independence.

"Although on the beach and many residents are fishermen, we also want to optimize the agricultural potential in Hadekawa Village. Of course, with the assistance of Pupuk Indonesia and hopefully it will be welcomed by the community, so that all good generations ranging from the young and to the old can optimize their agricultural potential," said Tina.

Pupuk Indonesia's Senior Vice President (SVP) for Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL), Junianto Simare Mare added, Pupuk Indonesia, which has social responsibility, does not only think about community development around the company. But Pupuk Indonesia also wants to contribute to areas far from the company's territory, including remote areas.

One of these contributions is by sending ten BUMN Bakti volunteers in the Tajumase Program. Volunteers are assigned to serve in Lembata Regency in order to realize the economic independence of the community.

He explained that the Tajumase Program was present since the beginning of 2024. Before running this program, field mapping is of course carried out, so that the programs that are run are really on target and have a sustainable good impact. Through this program, Junianto hopes that the surrounding community can meet food needs independently, because before there was this program agricultural commodities were supplied from other regions.

"Hadakewa is famous for the tourism sector, but we also see that the potential for the agricultural sector can support the tourism sector. How do people see the face in Hadakewa not only with the waves and various types of fish, but how can the agricultural sector progress. From several pilot areas carried out, Pupuk Indonesia has been able to have an impact on people's income," he said.

Junianto revealed, through a pilot land for chili cultivation, the Hadakewa Village Government is now optimistic that it can meet chili needs for all Lembata areas. In this program, Pupuk Indonesia not only improves the competence of the community in farming, but also introduces quality fertilizers from Pupuk Indonesia which have been tested to increase agricultural productivity.

On this occasion, Pupuk Indonesia also handed over the seed house to the Hadakewa Village Government, then inaugurated the Pupuk Indonesia Monument, and harvested chili with BUMN Bakti volunteers on the demonstration plot (demplot).

Finally, Junianto added that apart from Hadakewa, the Tajumase Program was also implemented in Wowong Village, Omesuri District, Lembata Regency. Here the volunteers together with the community do a demonstration for tomatoes, cabbage, terong, and kale plants. Next, in order to support the productivity and welfare of farmers, Pupuk Indonesia has also established a fertilizer kiosk which will later be managed by the surrounding community.

Meanwhile, the Head of Hadakewa Village, Klemens Kwamans appreciated Pupuk Indonesia's contribution to its people. Hadakewa, he explained, is a village on the beach and its area is in the middle of Lembata Island. With this topography, Hadakewa is known for its marine products. However, he and his village community are committed to optimizing the agricultural sector in their area. "With the presence of Pupuk Indonesia in Hadakewa to assist the Village Government in improving the community's economy from the agricultural sector. We from the coastal area were chosen to be fostered by agriculture, we will support the programs realized by Pupukup Indonesia, thank you for this collaboration," he said.
