Water in IKN Starts to Decrease due to Drought, Weather Modification is Prepared

NUSANTARA - Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono admitted that during this dry season, water reserves at IKN began to decline. Even so, his party has prepared a number of steps to anticipate the threat of drought.

"So the intake (water) has indeed decreased, but we have prepared the pump and have tried it. So, God willing, to face this drought, we are ready," said Basuki in a media briefing at the IKN Authority office, East Kalimantan, Friday, August 14.

In addition, in the face of drought, his party plans to carry out weather modification operations (OMC) which aims to reduce rain in the archipelago.

"I have also prepared for weather modification, yes. I have called Mr. Seto (Deputy for Weather Modification) BMKG, I have called Mr. KSAU to borrow the plane, we have sent a letter to the Commander-in-Chief," said Basuki.

Based on data from the BMKG, Basuki said, the implementation of OMC was most ideal to be carried out on August 19-21.

"I think because the golden time is from 19 to 21 for weather modification according to BMKG data, so I'm ready now," he said.

Meanwhile, portable pumps have been prepared, functioning to pump water into reservoirs. With various efforts that have been prepared, Basuki said, IKN is ready to face the potential for drought.

"So I think that for drought, El Nino, we at IKN are ready for the emergency," he concluded.
