Acting Deputy OIKN: Sepaku Semoi Dam Could Be A Tourism Destination In IKN

JAKARTA - Acting (Plt) Deputy Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) Raja Juli Antoni revealed that the Sepaku Semoi Dam can become a tourism destination in the capital city of Nusantara or IKN, East Kalimantan.

"Yes, this is part of our efforts to substantially first this dam can be a source of life, but of course this dam can also be a tourist destination," said King Juli Antoni as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 9.

According to him, the Ministry of PUPR has also equipped this dam with deflots to plant fruit, so it is hoped that the fruits planted at the Sepaku Semoi Dam can supply for needs at IKN.

"Mr. Minister of PUPR and Acting Deputy Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono have built deflots to plant fruits at this dam which may also help supply needs at IKN," he said.

The IKN Authority will discuss and coordinate with the Ministry of PUPR regarding the potential for the Sepaku Semoi Dam as a tourism destination.

"Of course we will discuss it with friends at the Ministry of PUPR, what kind of management model tourism will be and how we can take advantage of it later," said King Juli Antoni.

He also said that the construction of the Sepaku Semoi Dam was carried out by paying attention and maintaining the environment around the dam.

"Because there are still crocodiles in this dam, this shows that this dam (built) is natural but also later when it becomes a tourism destination, it cannot interfere with the natural process," he said.

For information, the Sepaku Semoi Dam was built in parts of North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, namely Sepaku District, which was hampered by extreme weather.
