Menparekraf Targets 20 Million Tourists To Indonesia, Needs To Increase The Number Of Flights

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno is optimistic that he can bring 20 million foreign tourists to Indonesia. According to him, the future government only needs to increase the number of flights.

"It is actually very easy to reach 20 million foreign tourists for the future government, it is just a matter of increasing the number of flights," said Sandiaga in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, Saturday, quoted from ANTARA.

According to him, the need to increase the number of direct flights to Indonesia, because the information he receives is that foreign tourists' interest in visiting tourist destinations in the country is getting higher, while the number of flights is limited.

"Because all flights to Indonesia are 'full' and many want to fly, yesterday from Istanbul, then Doha, and also Dubai are constrained by the limited availability of seats," he said.

According to Sandiaga, especially now that there are five super priority destinations that the Indonesian government continues to develop, including the Borobudur area, Lake Toba, North Sumatra, Labuhan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Menparekraf mengatakan, sementara untuk wisatawan domestik, pemerintah bisa menyediakan tiket pesawat dengan harga lebih terjangkat, agar pergerakan wisatawan nusantara terus mengalami peningkatan.

"For domestic tourists, we can also overcome the more affordable ticket prices, so that the movement of domestic tourists continues to grow," he said.

However, said Sandiaga, efforts to boost tourist visits from the archipelago including foreign tourists to Indonesia need a world-class event or event.

"We have to support world-class events such as Art Jog in Yogyakarta that I visited earlier, I was surprised that the quality is like an exhibition for world-class cultural actors," he said.
