JAKARTA - President Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Irfan Setiaputra said the airline had lowered the price of domestic aircraft tickets on several routes, days, and certain hours.

This is in response to complaints from the public and officials regarding the price of aircraft tickets that are still expensive.

"We did survive at first. I said as long as my boss directly, the minister, did not ask us to lower prices, I don't want to hear anything else, but this is also the voice of the community," said Irfan as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 3.

He explained that the decline in Garuda Indonesia prices applies to flights on certain days and hours.

For example, tickets for the economy class to Bali, which are usually IDR 1.9 million, fell to IDR 1.3 million for flights on Sunday, and IDR 1.3 million for flight home on Thursday. The price for other days remains IDR 1.9 million.

Garuda Indonesia will also launch the Best Time to Go to Bali campaign or the best time to go to Bali.

The goal is to encourage people to fly to Bali on Sunday and return home on Thursday.

"We are also working with several hotels to provide special discounts for Garuda passengers who come on Sunday, return on Thursday," said Irfan.

Currently, Garuda Indonesia has 71 aircraft consisting of 41 small and 30 wide bodies.

In front of members of the DPR, Irfan also said that the number of Garuda passengers continued to increase, with a record high of 976,000 passengers in April 2024.

"The average tariff of Garuda has also decreased since February 2024," he said.
