Thailand Imports Areca Nuts From North Sumatra: Five Containers Order Has Been Made

JAKARTA - Thailand imports areca nuts from North Sumatra to meet the needs of the country's food and other industries. "There are already five containers of betel nut orders from Thailand", said betel nut exporter from North Sumatra Rianto Aritonang in Medan, as reported by Antara, Thursday, March 18.

Without mentioning the export value, he said that the export of the five containers of betel nut will be carried out in the next 2 weeks according to the request of the Thai importer.

"After five containers, there will be more North Sumatra betel nut exports to Thailand", he said.

Even though Thailand is one of the areca producing countries, that country still needs areca nut from Indonesia, especially from North Sumatra.

Demand for betel nuts from several companies in Thailand, he said.

"This shows Thailand's buying interest in North Sumatra betel nuts is quite high", he said.

According to Rianto Aritonang, the owner of CV Karya Harapan Kita, in addition to Thailand, he also exports to India. "India is the biggest buyer of areca nut from North Sumatra", he said.
