JAKARTA - Every year, the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) operating is getting longer and longer, namely 614 km as of June 2024. With the longer JTTS, driving safety is a crucial aspect that must continue to be educated to every toll road user. To increase awareness of safety on the toll road, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) (Hutama Karya) has again promoted the SETUJU (Congratulations to Goal) driving safety campaign initiated by the company since 2019.

Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Adjib Al Hakim, stated that in 2024 Hutama Karya will further expand the target target of the campaign so that it can be accepted by all groups of vehicles, starting from travel drivers, truck drivers, and the inter-regional car community as targets for SETUJU education.

"The safety of driving on toll roads is a shared responsibility, so we must continue to carry out education and socialization, especially considering the long and straight characteristics of toll roads in Sumatra," said Adjib, Monday, June 25.

Adjib further added that AGREEd campaigns are intensified not only to raise awareness of toll road users, but to form habits for toll road drivers, reduce accident rates, to improve safety quality. This campaign is carried out by utilizing various approaches, initiatives, and communication media such as Microsleep Operation and Simpatic Operations, Safety Riding Education by cooperating with Rifat Sungkar as Key Opinion Leader (KOL), dissemination of information through Campaign Videos and routine content on the official @HutamaKaryaTollRoad account, as well as appeal and education through press releases, outdoor media such as banners and VMS, and local radio.

Until mid-2024, the implementation of the SETUJU Campaign has shown significant results. Through 12 Microsleep Operations actions, around 700 drivers were successfully monitored for physical and vehicle conditions and educated on the importance of good luck driving at night spread across the JORR-S Toll Road, Terbanggi Besar - Kayu Agung Toll Road, Pekanbaru - Dumai Toll Road, Pekanbaru - Bangkinang Toll Road and Binjai - Langsa Toll Road.

Meanwhile, for almost 6 months, Hutama Karya has also distributed as many as 730 snacks and coffee to toll road users to anticipate accidents caused by sleepy drivers through Simpatic Operations.

In the SETUJU Campaign, Hutama Karya also carried out 28 Over Dimension Overload (ODOL) operations with 802 vehicles that were inspected and weighed to reduce accidents caused by vehicles with loads and excess dimensions spread across the JORR-S Toll Road, Tanjung Priok Access Toll Road, Palembang - Indralaya Toll Road, Indralaya - Prabumulih Toll Road, Pekanbaru - Bangkinang Toll Road, Binjai - Langsa Toll Road and Indrapura - Kisaran Toll Road.

Through various AGREED campaign initiatives that have been implemented, we noted a significant increase in driving safety awareness, as reflected in the decline in accidents of around 30 percent (YoY) throughout Hutama Karya Toll Road. We also hope that safety messages can be received by toll road users from different groups and backgrounds," added Adjib.

In the remainder of 2024, a number of strategies have been prepared to optimize the SETUJU campaign, namely by increasing frequency and expanding the implementation area of Microsleep Operations to reach more toll road users, again collaborating with national KOL to improve brand awareness to target groups 1 and local and KOL or communities to target road users in the top 2 class, prepare merchandise and electronic money cards specifically for SETUJU editions, to strengthen educational content on social media.

The campaign AGREEs that Hutama Karya's idea contains five main points that toll road users must follow, including AGREE that safety is number one, AGREE to ensure the condition of prime vehicles, AGREE not to speed up on toll roads, AGREE to rest if you are tired or sleepy and AGREE with zero ODOL on toll roads.

"If toll road users follow the five points of the AGREEd campaign, we guarantee that travel will be safer and more comfortable and the chances of accidents getting smaller," concluded Adjib.

Hutama Karya appealed to all road users to drive in accordance with the rules and regulations applicable on toll roads with a minimum speed of 60 km/hour and a maximum of 100 km/hour, and not to use the shoulder of the road except in a state of emergency, as well as to monitor all information related to the Hutama Karya Toll Road on social media accounts @HutamaKaryaTollRoad.
