BSI Boss: Indonesia Has A Chance To Become A Pioneer Of The Global Halal Sector

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk or BSI Hery Gunardi said that Indonesia has a high enough opportunity to become a pioneer in the global halal sector to implement a halal lifestyle.

Furthermore, Hery explained that this opportunity can be realized through collaboration carried out by BSI together with local and global parties in an international event, namely BSI International Expo 2024.

"With a total of around 65 million MSMEs in Indonesia, BSI collaboration with local and global parties has a high opportunity for Indonesia, namely to become a pioneer in the halal sector globally by implementing a halal lifestyle," he said at the BSI International Expo 2024 event, at JCC, Jakarta, Thursday, June 20.

In addition, Hery assessed that Indonesia also has the opportunity to establish a Global Halal Producer Center as a center for halal producers around the world.

"And also increase the export capacity of quality halal products to various parts of the world," he said.

Hery said the Halal Industry is a potential sector and has considerable demand or demand both in Indonesia and globally.

"As a country with a Muslim population of more than 85 percent, Indonesia certainly has a great opportunity to become a pioneer in the halal sector in the world and implement halal lifestyle in every activity," he said.

Previously, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin hoped that the implementation of international exposure held by BSI today could be a routine activity so that the Indonesian sharia industry could further spread its wings abroad.

"This activity should be held consistently every year, not only in Jakarta, but also in other cities, thus encouraging MSMEs and local halal industry business actors to advance to class and globally," said Ma'ruf.
