JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is completing the arrangement of the Gelora Beach area in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), which has started since October 2023.

The arrangement of the Gelora Beach area is carried out by the Directorate of Settlement Area Development through the Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Directorate General of Human Settlements, Ministry of PUPR with a total budget of IDR 18.4 billion.

The arrangement of the Gelora Beach area includes the construction of residential infrastructure, namely beachside performances, environmental roads, drainage, seating shelters, street furniture and green open spaces.

Furthermore, drinking water work includes the construction of a new pipeline from Mata Air Semaso and Ai Temuk to house connections in Gelora Beach settlements, construction of new reservoirs and improvement of existing reservoirs.

Basuki said that the availability of adequate infrastructure will accelerate the development of tourist destinations. "For tourism, first, the infrastructure must be improved. Then, amenities and new events are promoted on a large scale. If it is not ready, tourists come once and will not come again. That's what we have to take care of right," he said.

Meanwhile, Assistant for the Economy and Development of the Sumbawa Regional Secretary Lalu Suharmaji Kertawijaya expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of PUPR for the arrangement of the Gelora Beach area.

"We are ready and very much appreciate the efforts made by the Ministry of PUPR to build tourism and infrastructure in Sumbawa Regency," he said.
