Ahead Of Eid Al-Adha, Disperindag Babel Ensures Chili Stock Is Safe

JAKARTA - The Department of Industry and Trade (Disperindag) of the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel) said the price of curly and cayenne peppers still holds quite high, because the price of the area of origin is already high.

Based on monitoring the price of chili traders at the Pangkalpinang Development Market, the price of large chilies is quite varied in the range of Rp. 60,000 to Rp. 65,000 per kilogram.

Likewise, the price of red cayenne pepper also varies from IDR 60,000 to IDR 65,000 per kilogram, green cayenne pepper from IDR 50,000 to IDR 55,000 per kilogram.

Even so, Disperindag ensured that chili stocks were still sufficient to meet the needs of the community ahead of Eid al-Adha 2024.

"Currently, the stock of curly and cayenne pepper in distributor warehouses is quite large to meet the needs of the community to welcome the sacrificial holiday," said Head of the Babel Islands Industry and Trade Office Tarmin AB in Pangkalpinang, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, June 15.

He said that currently the stock of curly chilies in five distributor warehouses is 1.21 tons and cayenne pepper is 0.7 tons, so it is certain that this chili supply is sufficient to meet the needs of the community to welcome Eid al-Adha which falls on Monday, June 17.

"This chili stock does not include chili supplies at retail traders and local farmers, so this stock exceeds the existing data," he said.

"The price of chili in this trader is quite varied or depending on the quality of these commodities, for example, chilies that have just arrived are higher than the stock of chilies that have been around for a long time," he said.

According to him, the price of chili ahead of Eid al-Adha this year did not increase, because supplies from outside the region were running smoothly.

"Cill supplies from outside and local farmers are still smooth, in order to anticipate an increase in public demand to welcome this sacrificial holiday," he said.
