Up 55.9 Percent, RMKE Coal Unloading Volume Reaches 823.6 Thousand MT

JAKARTA - PT RMK Energy Tbk (RMKE) managed to dismantle 330 trains with a volume capacity of 823.6 thousand MT of coal in May 2024 or an increase of 55.9 percent mom.

The company also managed to load 94 barges with a volume capacity of 745.0 thousand MT of coal in May 2024, an increase of 33.3 percent mom.

The volume of coal unloading and loading in May has returned to normal and is the highest throughout 2024. The operational performance of this period reduces the impact of operating reductions that had been hampered by extreme weather from January to April in South Sumatra.

As of May 2024, RMKE has dismantled 1,309 train series with a capacity of 3.2 million MT of coal and loaded 2.9 million MT of coal to 380 barges.

The volume of the unloading of trains and the cargo of barges has reached the target in 2024 of 31.6 percent and 32.0 percent, respectively.

The use of fuel increased by 35.9 percent and the ratio of fuel use per tonne of coal also increased by 2 percent in line with the increase in coal loading volume.

From the coal sales segment, the Company managed to sell coal of 220.2 thousand MT of coal in May 2024 with a growth of 344.5 percent mom compared to April.

The growth in coal sales volume was supported by the growth in in-house mining production, PT Truba Bara Banyu Enim (TBBE) which produced 70.12 thousand MT of coal increased by 276.7 percent mom and contributed 31.8 percent to coal sales volume in May 2024.

As of May 2024, RMKE has achieved its coal sales target in 2024 of 31.2 percent.

The President Director of the Company, Vincent Saputra, explained that the impact of high rainfall throughout early 2024 significantly affected declining operational performance.

However, in the second quarter of this year the weather was increasingly friendly, the volume of the service segment and coal sales had increased significantly in May 2024 and was the highest during the 2024 period.

We are grateful that this month's operational performance has reached normal volume and this increased operational performance is an excellent indication for the next RMKE performance. With the weather conditions starting to improve, we are increasingly optimistic to optimize good performance in the remainder of this year's period," Vincent said, Thursday, June 13.

Vincent added, this year, RMKE will also develop a coal logistics business by looking at existing opportunities and establishing several collaborations with mines located in/or outside the operational area of South Sumatra.

"In the future, the Company is optimistic that it can boost operational performance and increase production capacity in the second half so that it can achieve the Company's targets this year," concluded Vincent.
