Observers Worry About Social And Economic Aspects From Mining Management Rules By Mass Organizations

JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Reforminer Institute, Komaidi Notonegoro, revealed that he anticipates the economic and social aspects of the community from the policy of granting Mining Business Permits (IUP) to religious community organizations (ormas).

Komaidi said, actually there are several things that need to be anticipated by the government because there are costs and benefits in its implementation.

"If you look at the provisions, this is offered, later it will not be automatically, of course there is a technical and business mechanism," he said in a Maket Review, Tuesday, June 4.

Then from an economic point of view, what needs to be anticipated is the economics of the mining business permit area (WIUP) because based on Article 83A PP 25/2024 it is stated that WIUPK which was given was an area of the former Coal Mining Concession Work Agreement (PKP2B).

"This is a former that has been abandoned and is not a new WK and needs to be identified whether the economy is still in or not. Don't let it become a burden for friends (ormas) who can get the WK concerned," continued Komaidi.

According to him, this PKP2B area should not become an additional burden for mass organizations.

With a simple language, continued Komaidi, matters related to this mine should be left to an expert who has been in the mining sector for a long time.

"This is from the economic aspect so it is left to the experts, of course it will be optimal," added Komaidi.

Then from the social aspect of the community, Komaidi said, he was worried about horizontal friction between mass organizations that obtained WIUP and mass organizations that did not.

He gave an example, if there is an A mass organization that gets a WIUP while other mass organizations do not, or mass organizations near mining areas do not get the right to WIUP, it is feared that there will be friction.

"For example, there are mass organizations A given, B is also given, but there are C, D, E, F, and so on who feel entitled but the area is limited. Do not let friction occur. Social problems need to be anticipated because horizontal friction is large," concluded Komaidi.
