Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi said that as many as 729 thousand tons of rice for the Food Supply and Price Stabilization Program (SPHP) had been realized to consumers from January to May 29, 2024.

"As of May 29, the realization of SPHP rice at the consumer level has touched 729 thousand tons from the target of 1.2 million tons (in 2024)," Arief said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, June 3.

Apart from consumers, Arief also said that the realization of SPHP rice to modern retailers reached 50 thousand tons with the top three distributions, namely Indomaret, Indogrosir, and Alfamart.

"Through Perum Bulog, Badanas has assigned the implementation of the rice supply stabilization program and food prices or SPHP both at the consumer and modern retail levels," he said.

Arief said that apart from the SPHP, his party also carried out other intervention programs in the form of the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) which became the mainstay instrument for stabilizing national food conditions.

During the period January to May, the total GPM has been implemented as many as 4,695 times in 37 provinces and 410 regencies/cities.

"This will continue to be intensified, especially ahead of the Idul Adha HBKN (National Religious Holiday) in June," said Arief.

Furthermore, Arief stated that the government continues to realize the stability of supply and the reasonableness of strategic staple food prices, especially in the run-up to the National Religious Holidays (HBKN) of Eid al-Adha 2024.

"We at the National Food Agency routinely analyze food price conditions nationally, including at the consumer level. These price data are the set of a total of 1,503 enumerators throughout Indonesia, from producer, consumer to wholesale levels," said Arief.

Arief emphasized that the SPHP rice disbursed by the government is intended to maintain supply stability and food prices, as well as to ensure that public access to food is maintained.

Therefore, he asked traders and business actors not to mix rice supply stabilization and food prices (SPHP) and not to sell above the highest retail price (HET) that has been set.
