Moeldoko Denies Tapera Contributions For IKN Financing And Free Lunch

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko denied the contribution of people's housing savings (Tapera) to additionally meet the lack of funds in the construction of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) and the free lunch program.

"This tape has nothing to do with the APBN There is no government effort to finance free lunch or IKN," he explained at the Bina Graha Building of the Presidential Staff Office, Jakarta, Friday, May 31.

According to Moeldoko, all programs planned by the government have their financing, including the construction of IKN and free lunch.

In addition, Moeldoko conveyed that the Tapera tube contribution would be supervised by the Tapera Committee to prevent corruption.

Meanwhile, Moeldoko explained that the committee would be chaired by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and its members, namely, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Manpower, the Commissioner of the Financial Services Authority, to professionals.

"We present the OJK, there is a committee but the OJK also has a supervisory function. One of the supervision is through the Tapera Committee which will supervise Tapera, the chairman is the PUPR minister, with members of the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Manpower, the OJK commissioner, and professionals," he said.

Moeldoko emphasized that the People's Housing Savings (Tapera) program is not a salary deduction fee but a savings that is required by law (UU).

Meanwhile, Tapera is regulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 21 of 2024 concerning amendments to Government Regulation Number 25 of 2020 concerning Public Housing Savings (Tapera).

"So I want to emphasize that this tempera is not a pay cut or contribution, but this Tapera is a savings. In the law it is mandatory, there is a law that says it requires," he said.

Moeldoko said that for workers who already have a house, the savings can be disbursed into cash when they retire.

"But what form for those who already have a house? Do we have to build a house? We discussed it inside, later in the end when he retires, it's finished, it can be withdrawn in the form of money or with the maturation that occurs," he explained.
