JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo inaugurated the Ameroro Dam based on PT Hutama Karya (Persero) (Hutama Karya) in collaboration with operations (KSO) with PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk., (Adhi Karya) (KSO HK-Adhi) in package II located in Tamesandi Village, Uepai. Kab. Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi, Tuesday 14 May.

This inauguration was symbolically marked by touching off the sensor and signing of the inscription by President Jokowi accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces General Agus Subiyanto, Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi and Acting Governor of Southeast Sulawesi Andap Budhi Revianto.

Also present were Hutama Karya President Director Budi Harto, Operations Director I Hutama Karya Agung Fajarwanto and President Director Adhi Karya Entus Asnawi Mukhson.

In his remarks, President Jokowi said that the Ameroro Dam is the 40th dam that has been built by the Government for the past 10 years with a capacity of 88 million m3, an inundation area of 398 Ha and can reduce flooding in the Konawe area and its surroundings.

"We know that in some countries now there is a water crisis, it is very difficult to get water. In the future, water is important for our lives, so we really have to take advantage of it," said President Jokowi.

The day before it was inaugurated on Monday, May 13, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono signed the inscription on the completion of the Ameroro Dam construction as a form of accountability for the Ministry of PUPR, contractors and consultants to the public.

"So that if there is anything we can find out who is responsible and when this infrastructure will be built," said Basuki.

Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Adjib Al Hakim explained that the construction of the Ameroro Dam with a land area of 578.78 Ha, had started in April 2021, and had been completed earlier in October 2023 from the contract plan in November 2023.

"Hutama Karya shows its commitment in completing the Ameroro Dam, which is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) on time, quality and zero accidents," said Adjib.

Adjib further explained that in the process of accelerating its development, Hutama Karya implemented Green Construction which aims to reduce environmental impacts, increase efficiency and realize sustainable development supported by Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology which integrates projects from planning to implementation so that it runs effectively.

The existence of the second dam in Southeast Sulawesi province will provide many benefits for the surrounding community, including the potential to add irrigation area services covering an area of 3,363 Ha, where previously it was only 1,903 Ha, as a fulfillment of raw water of 511 liters/second, there is potential as a hydro-powered power plant (PLTM) of 1,3 megawatts and the potential to become a tourist attraction for the surrounding community," concluded Adjib Al Hakim, EVP Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya.
