JAKARTA - Disasters can come at any time. Therefore, preparedness for disasters is important for all levels of society. Sufficient knowledge is also needed to minimize the losses caused by a disaster.

For this reason, the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB) of Lebakgede Village, Pulomerak District, Cilegon City, held a simulation of disaster preparedness and earthquakes, Saturday, May 11. This activity was attended by hundreds of residents, including school students.

The Head of Preparedness and Disaster Division of the Cilegon City BPBD, Fathurrohman, appreciated the activities supported by the Cilegon City government, and were supported by a number of private parties. Among them is PT Indo Raya Tenaga (IRT) as the manager of the USC SCR environmentally friendly PLTU which has provided support for the smooth running of activities.

"We as the Cilegon City Government appreciate PT IRT for playing an active role in today's activities. The role of the private sector, namely the industry, is very much needed and must be able to synergize with local governments, of course, for the benefit of the community," said Fathurrohman, Monday, May 13.

He hopes that this community-based disaster mitigation simulation can later be applied in the family environment. Moreover, IRT has also prepared a special tsunami evacuation route for Lebak Gede residents in early 2021.

The simulation itself was held with a scenario that an earthquake was occurring which resulted in a potential tsunami on the coast of Lebakgede. Information on the disaster was quickly conveyed by the Lebakgede FPRB to the public through RT and RW administrators. In the simulation, when a disaster is detected, the sirens and kentongans immediately sound.

Dalam agenda ini, warga yang sedang aktivitas di luar rumah dan dalam rumah tampak langsung berjalan menuju pada wilayah ketinggian yang menjadi titik evakuasi.

The chairman of the Implementing Committee who is also the Head of RT 04/05 Cipala, Nurbakti, said that his party was trying to educate the public to find out about self-saving steps during the disaster situation.

"Thus, if there is a real disaster, people can take action, such as a form of saving themselves," said Nurbakti.

Lebak Village Head Gede Miftahul Kamal believes the tsunami drills involving this industry can have a positive impact. People involved in this activity want to disseminate their knowledge to more people. Therefore, he feels that synergy with the private sector in disaster mitigation activities needs to be encouraged in the future, considering that along the coast of Lebakgede, the land has been inhabited by factories.

"One of them is synergizing with the industry, one of which is PT Indo Raya Tenaga, which has provided support for current activities," said Miftah.

One of the residents, Darda Nela, admitted that he gained new knowledge from this simulation activity. The PAUD teacher really wanted to share this knowledge with PAUD students and his parents. "I am happy because I know the right steps when a disaster occurs. Thank you also to the industry for facilitating and supporting activities for the benefit of this community," he explained. PT Indo Raya Tenaga itself argues that this disaster response simulation is very important to be held. Because the people of Lebak Gede, whether it's factory employees, farmers, and school children, must be prepared to become resilient people facing natural disasters such as earthquakes or tsunamis.

"If you look at today's activities. The enthusiasm of the residents is quite lively and enthusiastic in the simulation process from start to finish," said PT IRT Public Relations Officer Reza.

In addition to PT Indo Raya Tenaga, which is the management of PLTU with advanced technology and environmentally friendly Java 9&10, this simulation activity also involved the Pulomerak District, Pulomerak Police, Pulomerak Koramil, Pulomerak Health Center, Cilegon City BPBD, and Cilegon City PMI.
