JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir targets the development of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) in the Benoa Port area to become a tourism ecosystem area. Especially, said Erick, entertainment and world-class music festivals. “ If you look at the blueprint for development plans from the BMTH project, it is hoped that this area can become a new icon of Indonesian maritime tourism and even the world, by integrating various maritime tourism facilities, such as marine, yacht, cruise terminal, entertainment on an international scale, umkm plaza and also LNG,” he said in his official statement, Sunday, May 12. According to Erick, it is also possible that world-class music festivals will be held in this BMTH area. “As an archipelagic country, it is appropriate for us to be a world-class maritime icon that integrates tourism and entertainment. The hope is that big events such as Tommorow Land, Summer Sonic and other world-class events can be presented in this BMTH area,” said Erick. Erick believes that with the good support and cooperation between the Ministry of SOEs and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, BMTH can become an icon of Indonesian maritime tourism that presents international-scale entertainment.

In addition, Erick also appreciated the synergy between SOEs involved in the BMTH project. Moreover, during its construction this project has absorbed around 1,900 local workers for its development. BMTH is also expected to encourage local economic growth and create new jobs for the community around the Benoa area.
