Trip Ketapang-Gilimanuk Bali Ship Record

The number of trips or ship trips from Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, to Gilimanuk Port, Jembrana Regency, Bali, recorded a national record.

A total of 1,908 trips were recorded as 30 ships connecting the two ports from December 18 to 25 which is the 2024 Christmas holiday.

"The achievement of the crossing service trip in the Bali Strait is the highest among the 12 crossings we have monitored," said PT ASDP Indonesia Corporate Secretary Ferry Shelvy Arifin as reported by ANTARA, Friday, December 27.

He said, with an average trip of 239 times every day, the number of trips at Ketapang Port is 2.5 times more than Merak Port.

Meanwhile, on the Gilimanuk Port side to Ketapang Port, there were 1,866 ship trips in the same period.

With this trip achievement, according to him, this shows PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry's commitment in providing crossing services, including in uncertain weather conditions in the Bali Strait.

"The high wave in the Bali Strait can reach two meters or even more. However, thanks to hard work including coordination with other agencies, the Christmas holiday crossing transportation can run smoothly," he said.

On the other hand, for a surge in users of crossing services during the year-end holidays which are predicted to occur from December 28 to 30, his party urges service users to plan trips well, including buying tickets online.

He also revealed that nationally, of the 12 trajectories, more than 1 million people were recorded using crossing services served by 118 ships.

The challenge to provide safe shipping services, he said, is the extreme weather that occurs in a number of waters such as the Bali Strait and the southern Lombok Strait.
