Earthquake M 6.5, Jasa Marga Ensures Cipularang And Padaleunyi Toll Roads Are Safe To Cross

JAKARTA - The Cipularang and Padaleunyi toll roads are confirmed to be in good condition after an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 in Garut Regency, West Java, on Saturday, April 27 evening.

"So far, the condition of the toll road, especially the Cipularang Toll Road and the Padaleunyi Toll Road and the rest area are good, there have been no reports regarding the impact of the earthquake last night," said the Marketing and Communication Department Head of Jasa Marga Metropolitan Tollroad Panji Satriya, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, April 28.

Panji also added that the condition of Rest and Service Areas (TIP) or rest areas on toll roads are also in good condition after the earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5.

For information, a 6.5 magnitude tectonic earthquake occurred on Saturday night, at 23.29 WIB, with a location at sea at a distance of 156 kilometers southwest of Garut Regency at a depth of 70 kilometers.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the 6.5 magnitude earthquake in Garut Regency, West Java, had no potential for a tsunami. The modeling results show that this earthquake does not have the potential for a tsunami.

By taking into account the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was an intermediate type due to rock deformation activity in the Indo-Australian Plate which was subducted under the Eurasian Plate in southern West Java.

Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Daryono, said there was no aftershock activity until 23.55 WIB.

However, he still appealed to the public to avoid buildings that are easily damaged or cracked when an earthquake occurs.
