JAKARTA - PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk launched the latest feature from the Shar-E Debit VISA card, namely contactless technology called Paywave which customers can use for transactions in the Holy Land.

"The Shar-E Debit VISA Paywave card feature can be used for transactions abroad. Therefore, we introduce this feature at the momentum of this year's Hajj season in the hope of facilitating transactions of Indonesian pilgrims while worshiping in the Holy Land," said Bank Muamalat SEVP Retail Banking Dedy Suryadi Dharmawan in his statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, April 26.

Dedy explained that Paywave is one of the payment methods on the Shar-E Debit VISA card with a special logo through an electronic data capture (EDC) machine that supports the feature. This means that the payment made will be faster and safer because the card does not need to be given to the cashier.

The card can be used at any time on EDC machines that support the Paywave feature abroad, including in Saudi Arabia, for transaction needs such as payments at merchants, purchasing hands, and others.

Just like non-Paywave cards, the VISA Shar-E Debit card with the Paywave feature does not apply the additional costs charged to customers of each transaction. To be able to have a VISA Shar-E Debit card bearing the Paywave logo, customers can visit the Bank Muamalat branch office which already has a card supply.

The Shar-E Debit VISA Paywave card is equipped with encrypted security on each card and is protected by securing the transaction limit.

The card can be used for shopping transactions at EDC machines without using PIN with a nominal value of less than IDR 100,000 per transaction with a Paywave card transaction limit of IDR 1 million per day. As for the nominal above IDR 1 million, you can still transact with a transaction card mechanism that is mapped with the authorization of PIN.

In addition to the Paywave feature, the Shar-E Debit Muamalat card with the VISA logo can also be used at all ATM and EDC machines with the VISA/Plus logo in Saudi Arabia.

The Shar-E Debit card also has advantages with the availability of transaction options in Indonesian when transacting at ATMs, specifically for ATM machines owned by Bank Al Rajhi spread across Makkah, Medina, and Jeddah.

Not only innovative features make it easier for customers to transact, the Shar-E Debit Muamalat card with the VISA logo also offers a 15 percent cashback program for each purchase at all merchants bearing the VISA logo in Saudi Arabia up to IDR 250,000 in one month without a minimum transaction provision.

Dedy said the various features and programs prepared by Bank Muamalat would be very useful and provide added value to customers who perform the pilgrimage.

"This is in line with our commitment to always contribute to the success of organizing the pilgrimage," said Dedy.
