Government Provides Subsidy For Flights Towards Lombok In 2024

The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Tourism Office stated that the central government through the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Maritim) of the Republic of Indonesia will provide subsidies for flights to Lombok in 2024.

"This is to help people who want to enjoy a vacation to Lombok. Because so far, many have complained about the high price of tickets," said Head of the NTB Tourism Office Jamaludin in Praya, quoted from Antara, Thursday, April 18.

He said this flight subsidy was enforced for four months from May to August 2024, not until the end of the year. So that with this subsidy, it is hoped that the target for tourist visits of 2.5 million per year can be realized.

"For this year, various events, both local and international, will take place, so with this flight subsidy, tourists will be more crowded coming to Lombok," he said.

With this subsidy, it will really help people who want to enjoy tourism in NTB Province, especially in Lombok.

"The flight subsidy ends before MotoGP in September 2024," said Jamaludin.

He said the flights, which would later have a vacant seat heading to Lombok, which were given subsidies and subsidies, were implemented both for domestic and international routes. This flight subsidy is not only given to Lombok but various other areas that enter Super Priority Regions (DSP) such as the ports of Bajo, Mandalika, Lake Toba, Kupang and Borobudur.

"It's just a priority, namely the Mandalika and Labuan Bajo Special Economic Zones (SEZs)," he said.

Furthermore, it is stated that usually if there is an aviation subsidy, the airlines will open additional flight routes. Because so far the concern is not to let the flight route be opened and the few passengers will lose are airlines.

So far, the subsidies of flights are the Regional Government and the Provincial Government. It's just that because we see our financial condition, both the Provincial and Regency APBDs are not good, we have not been able to carry out subsidies," he said.
