Susi Air Officially Serves Aviation Routes To Weh Sabang Island

JAKARTA - Susi Air is officially serving the Banda Aceh - Sabang flight route or vice versa, so it is considered an alternative choice of transportation for tourists who want to vacation on Weh Island.

Acting Mayor of Sabang Reza Fahlevi in Sabang City, Tuesday, April 17, said transportation to Sabang was easier with the presence of air routes. Moreover, so far the crossing to Sabang has only been served by sea by fast boat and ferry roro.

"Alhamdulillah, today Susi Air has flown to Sabang, we know this is a solution and option for tourists who are going to Sabang. Not only relying on ships, but now it can also be done with air, so there are more alternative options for tourists to Sabang," said Reza, quoted from Antara.

This was conveyed by Reza on the sidelines of the inaugural flight of Susi Air on the Banda Aceh-Sabang route or vice versa which landed at Maimun Saleh Airport (MUS) from Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport (SIM) Aceh Besar.

He explained that the increase in tourist visits after the Eid al-Fitr holiday was a great opportunity for flights to Sabang, which would also provide convenience and comfort for the community and tourists.

He said, the Sabang City Government is very grateful to the Ministry of Transportation for making Sabang one of the destinations of the government's subsidized flight program.

"This is an opening, so it is very likely that this flight will also encourage the opening of other flights. If initially subsidies may go forward if the market is good, it will also become a commercial route," he said.

Reza also thanked the Commander of the Musus Air Base, Sabang Irdhian Krisnayogi, as well as all local Forkopimda who have supported the presence of air transportation to the westernmost city of Indonesia.

"We are both committed to the success of this flight. I also invite the public, especially tourism actors, to use flight services, besides our ships, to also have flight services," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Airport Organizing Unit (UPBU) MUS Falatehan Hasudungan said all elements were ready to carry out flight-related activities. Banda Aceh-Sabang is an additional route for pioneering flights in Aceh approved by the Ministry of Transportation based on proposals from the Aceh Government.

"Tiket untuk rutet Banda Aceh-Sabang dengan harga Rp220 ribu sekali GT jalan, sedangkan untuk rute sebaliknya Sabang-Banda Aceh dengan harga Rp132 ribu. Itu net untuk semua penumpang, dengan keberangan dua kali seminggu yakni hari Selasa dan Jumat," ujarnya.

Apart from Banda Aceh-Sabang, in 2024 several other pioneer flight routes in Aceh, namely Medan-Singkil, Medan-Goyo Lues, and Gayo Lues-Takengon, with frequencies twice each per week.

He hopes that in the future these pioneering flights can continue. Not only stopped on pioneer flights, but it could become an independent or commercial flight for the benefit of the people of Sabang.
