JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation facilitates the process of reprinting documents of sailors on behalf of Ryan Yudatama Lizar who drowned in Shimonoseki waters, Japan, Thursday, April 4.

Ryan is the only survivor of 8 Indonesian citizens (WNI) on the South Korean-flagged Keoyoung Sun Ship.

"When Ryan arrived in Indonesia, we continued to coordinate and move quickly to facilitate the printing of documents of sailors who were lost when he experienced the tragedy of the sinking ship in March," said the Director of Shipships and Marine Affairs of the Ministry of Transportation Hartanto quoting Antara.

Regarding the other 7 victims, Hartanto said, the Ministry of Transportation also continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ship manning agency (ship management agency) of each Indonesian crew member regarding the fulfillment of the rights of the sailors.

"We also thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is very cooperative and collaborative to jointly facilitate the rights of sailors in the tragedy of the sinking of the Keoyoung Sun ship. Of course, the Ministry of Transportation will continue to oversee, coordinate and facilitate the fulfillment of the rights of the victims and hopefully there will be no problems that will occur in the future," he added.

Of the 8 victims of Indonesian citizens, the Japan Coast Guard confirmed that the bodies of 6 Indonesian citizens had been found, 1 surviving Indonesian crew member named Ryan Yudatama Lizar, while 1 other Indonesian crew member was missing and is still being searched.

On this occasion, Ryan, who was present at the Ministry of Transportation Building in Jakarta, appreciated the Directorate General of Sea Transportation who had assisted in the process since the beginning of his repatriation until the processing of the documents that were lost.

"I personally thank and feel helped by the role of the Ministry of Transportation which has facilitated the search process in Japan until I arrived in Indonesia. I also express my deep condolences for the death of 7 other crew members," he said.
