JAKARTA - Tokopedia CEO Melissa Siska Juminto met with Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan to report on the progress of his integration with TikTok. The meeting was held yesterday at the Office of the Ministry of Trade, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 2.

The Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Isy Karim, said the meeting discussed the development of collaboration between TikTok and Tokopedia.

"Tokopedia reports on integration progress, that in general, the integration process has been carried out by PT Tokopedia and realized in an application called Shop Tokopedia," said Isy, when contacted by reporters, Thursday, April 4.

Isy explained, the name TikTok Shop will later change to Shop Tokopedia, which is a fully managed e-commerce application by Tokopedia starting from payment, user data, and merchant management.

"The Shop Tokopedia application replaces the TikTok Shop application which was previously managed by TikTok. Currently, the Shop Tokopedia application already has an Electronic System Operator List Sign (TDPSE) issued by the Ministry of Communication and Information," said Isy.

According to him, the Ministry of Trade will continue to monitor the implementation of the application as well as other e-commerce.

This is done so that the business run by Shop Tokopedia remains the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 31 of 2023 concerning Business Licensing, Advertising, Development, and Supervision of Business Actors in Trade through the Electronic Permendag System Number 31 of 2023 comes into effect on the date of promulgation, namely September 26, 2023.

"As of March 27, 2024, Tokopedia and Shop Tokopedia have completed and fulfilled all the provisions according to the trial period set by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. All e-commerce service activities on Shop Tokopedia, including payments, ordering activities, and transactions, have been entirely carried out on the Tokopedia electronic system. We have also separated social media accounts with e-commerce accounts on the TikTok application, complete with a choice of privacy setting according to user preferences. Thus, we can convey that Tokopedia and Shop Tokopedia have complied with the Regulation of the Minister of Trade 31/2023," said Melissa.

Melissa also said that Tokopedia will continue to be committed to advancing local MSMEs by continuing MSME development programs such as Buying Local, Melocal with Batik, and Extra Seru Ramadan. This is in line with what Tokopedia has done from the start, namely making MSMEs king in its own country and ensuring the absence of predatory pricing on the platform as a form of protection for MSMEs.
