JAKARTA - President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk (JSMR) responded to a question from a member of Commission VI of the DPR RI to make toll rates free during the Lebaran 2024 homecoming period as in Malaysia. It is considered, this depends on government policy.

This was revealed during a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, on Wednesday, April 3. At that time, Subakti answered questions from Member of Commission VI Nevi Zuairina regarding the implementation of the free toll policy.

"It's strange that Malaysia turns out to be free to enter the toll road. When will Indonesia, here, sir, for free, especially for people during homecoming," Nevi said as quoted on Thursday, April 4.

Responding to this, Subakti, who is also the General Chair of the Indonesian Toll Association (ATI), said that currently it is difficult to ask other Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) to apply toll tariff discounts.

"Why is Malaysia free? Well, this might be a discussion. Right, we are discussing at ATI, I happen to be the chairman, it's very difficult to give this discount. If Jasa Marga has preceded the 20 percent (toll tariff discount), the others don't even want to. Finally, because it continues to be pushed by the government, everything is 20 percent," he said.

He said the free toll rates carried out in Malaysia made the country's government compensate for Ringgit's 376 million toll fees or equivalent to Rp126.3 billion. So, if you want to implement a similar policy depending on the government, even though he claims it is difficult to implement.

On the same occasion, he said that it is more possible not to apply free toll rates during Lebaran, but to provide a larger discount of up to 50 percent.

"Well, if you want it, maybe we will give a rather large discount, for example 50 percent or how much, what percentage is ATI, what percentage is the government, you know. Chosen the day, which lane, it can be. But if it is borne by all of us, we are also a bit bothered to discuss this because we also, right, there are public property. Moreover, now there are foreigners entering the toll road again, not everything belongs to BUMN. Maybe sharing, that's it," he added.

Meanwhile, JSMR has confirmed that there will be a 20 percent discount on toll rates during the momentum of homecoming and backflow for Lebaran 2024.

This 20 percent toll tariff discount applies to toll road rates managed by Jasa Marga Group, namely the integration of the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) & MBZ Flyover, Palimanan-Kanci Toll Road, Batang-Semarang Toll Road and Semarang Toll Road Section ABC.

The technical implementation of toll tariff discounts for all groups only applies to vehicles from GT Cikampek Utama and transactions exiting the Kalikangkung GT Batang-Semarang Toll Road during the homecoming period, namely Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 05.00 WIB to Friday, April 5, 2024 at 05.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, on the backflow, the discount on toll rates is only for vehicles from GT Kalikangkung, Jalan Tol Batang-Semarang and transactions are out at GT Cikampek Utama, Jalan Tol Jakarta-Cikampek starting Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 05.00 WIB until Friday, April 19, 2024 at 05.00 WIB.
