The Ministry Of PUPR Allocates IDR 7.2 Trillion For This Year's Cash Labor Intensive Program

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has allocated Rp7.22 trillion and targets employment of 297,000 people in the 2024 Cash Labor Intensive Program (PKT) to maintain purchasing power and provide jobs for the community.

"Our estimated labor absorption in the water resources sector is targeted to absorpt 120,000 people and in the roads and bridges with an absorption target of 20,000 people," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, April 2.

In addition, his party targets the absorption of labor in the residential sector or the creation of 47,000 people and 110,000 people in the housing sector.

On this occasion, Basuki also reported the realization of labor absorption in last year's PKT program which exceeded the target, which was 105 percent.

"PKT 2023 absorbs 763,000 workers or 105 percent of the target of 723,000 people," he said.

Basuki said that last year the residential sector contributed to the largest labor absorption surplus, which was 95,050 people from the initial plan of only 62,000 people.

Next, the area of water resources with 295,800 labor absorption is compared to 281,000 people in the initial plan as well as roads and bridges that absorb 81,900 people compared to the initial needs of 80,000 people.

Meanwhile, labor absorption in the housing sector, he said, did not reach the target, or only 290,300 workers compared to the absorption plan of 300,130 workers.

Basuki also stated that last year's PKT program budget realization was also below the target.

"The realization of the Cash Labor Intensive program budget for 2023 amounted to Rp13.93 trillion or 91.76 percent of the budget allocation of Rp15.18 trillion," he said.
