Pertamina Boss Reveals Reasons For Not Raising Fuel Prices For Two Months In A Row

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, confirmed that her company will still hold the price of fuel until June 2024.

So far, Nicke said that so far her party has maintained the price of fuel for 2 months since February 2024.

"We see that as of today, we have not increased prices for 2 months, because we see that with this stock and inventory and subsidy arrangement we can still overcome using prices in January," said Nicke, quoted on Saturday, March 30.

Although he did not adjust the price for 2 months, Nicke said Pertamina's fuel prices were still competitive when compared to private gas station service providers.

He gave an example of the price of fuel with an octane value of 92 or Pertamax having a difference of up to Rp2,000 with private fuel.

"For example, RON 92, our price with competitors is cheaper between Rp1,000- Rp2,000. We take this from RON 92 which is mostly done," continued Nicke.

As a state-owned state-owned state-owned company, Nicke said that her party is considering people's purchasing power before adjusting fuel prices.

"As SOEs, we really have to look at the condition of people's purchasing power, so it's not just a consideration," concluded Nicke.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the government would not increase electricity and fuel oil (BBM) rates for subsidies and non-subsidized until June 2024.

"Earlier it was decided in the plenary cabinet session, there was no increase in electricity, no increase in fuel to juni, be it subsidies and non-subsidized," he told the media crew, Monday, February 26.
