Lampung Transportation Agency Calls Long Ports Can Be Used As Alternative Crossings In The 2024 Eid Homecoming

JAKARTA - The Lampung Province Transportation Service (Dishub) stated that the Panjang Port will still be used as an alternative crossing in the 2024 Eid homecoming.

"There have been slight changes related to the crossing scheme during the Lebaran 2024 homecoming period, where the Panjang Port is still expected to operate as an alternative crossing," said Head of the Lampung Provincial Transportation Agency Bambang Sumbogo in Bandarlampung, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, March 26.

He said the plan would still be used by Panjang Port as an alternative crossing for motorcycle users from Ciwandan Port, which is located in Cilegon in Lebaran 2024 homecoming, to facilitate the flow of homecoming.

"Indeed, it is still being closed with the Director General of Sea Transportation, and with the Panjang Port it can help the community because it has a shorter distance than at Bakauheni Port," he said.

He explained that the short distance from Ciwandan Port- Panjang Port and with the center of Bandarlampung City is considered safe enough for travelers who use two-wheeled vehicles.

"So this service at Panjang Port can be used so as not to focus on Bakauheni Port, especially if motorcycle travelers have many aspects that must be considered such as safety, congestion if they have to travel quite far from Bakauheni because it takes 100 kilometers to get to Bandarlampung City," he said.

He continued that if Pelni's ship has not been able to provide services during homecoming at Panjang Harbor, then there will be an option using a small ASDP ship that has not been used.

"This morning, the operation was held at the post at KSOP for preparation, and based on initial information that from Ciwandan Port-Pelni ships cannot use Pelni ships, they will use small ASDP vessels that are not used. Meanwhile, the number of ships to be used will be closed again," he added.

According to him, with the optimization of all piers at Bakauheni Port, Panjang Port combined with Indah Kiat Port, Bojanegara BBJ Port, and Ciwandan Port, the capacity to accommodate travelers will be more so that services will run optimally.

"The ticket purchase scheme is still being coordinated again, but it is hoped that there will be subsidies like the previous year," he said.
