JAKARTA - Food SOE Holding, ID FOOD encourages increased exports of seaweed commodities to China.

This step was taken as an effort to increase the added value of domestic fishery and marine products.

Trade VP and Logistics ID FOOD Ferry Fardiansyah said the opportunity to export seaweed and fishery commodities to China was very promising.

Various strategic steps continue to be taken by ID FOOD to strengthen exports, including actively participating in various international-scale exhibitions and exploring cooperation with a number of Chinese companies.

Ferry said this was done to introduce Indonesian seaweed products. For example, when traveling to China to take part in the international-scale Cross-Border E-commerce exhibition and conducting business visits to a number of Chinese companies engaged in the food and trade sectors.

"From these activities, dozens of potential buyers were caught with the potential for cooperation of Rp. 64 billion," he said in an official statement, Friday, March 22.

Ferry said, one of the potential buyers who in the near future will cooperate with seaweed exports with ID FOOD is Jianxi Lemon Biotechnology Co. Ltd with a potential sale of 1,200 Metrix Tons (MT) per year.

The first delivery plan we will make is 100 tonnes in April 2024, for the Cottonii seaweed (Cottonii seawed) commodity. This is a good step to increase seaweed exports to China as one of the largest markets of world seaweed," he explained.

To ensure that the cooperation runs in a sustainable manner, Ferry said, then a memorandum of understanding with Jianxi Lemon Biotechnology Co. Ltd is being prepared as the initial basis for wider cooperation.

In addition to displaying seaweed products, during a business visit and the E-commerce Cross-border exhibition which will take place from March 18 to 20, 2024, ID FOOD also features various products such as seafood, superior coffee from various regions, spices, coconut palm oil, and salt.

Ferry explained that marine ruput commodities are one of the company's leading commodities which is currently being driven by an increase in exports.

In 2023, through its subsidiary PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PPI), ID FOOD has exported 212 MT Eucheuma Cottoni seaweed.

Seaweed exported the products of domestic farmers which are taken off directly by the company.

Last year ID FOOD exported seaweed to a number of countries such as China, Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. This latest export cooperation will increase the volume of seaweed exports this year," he explained.

To support the seaweed export activity, ID FOOD has a special seaweed storage warehouse located in Tanjung Perak with a capacity of 6,000 MT and Buduran with a capacity of 700 MT.
