PGN And PIS Infrastructure Cooperation, Maritime Mode, And Use Of Low Carbon Fueled Energy

JAKARTA - PT PGN Tbk as Pertamina Gas Subholding collaborates with PT PIS as the Subholding Integrated Marine Logistics in development, utilization of infrastructure and maritime transportation modes. PGN and PIS will review various business potentials in development, utilization of infrastructure and maritime transportation modes related to low-carbon fuel products.

The cooperation began with the signing of a memorandum of understanding carried out by PGN President Director Arief Setiawan Handoko and PIS President Director Yoki Firnandi, witnessed by the Logistics & Infrastructure Director of PT Pertamina Persero, Alfian Nasution in Jakarta, Tuesday 19 March. The low-carbon fuel in question is CNG, LNG, hydrogen, ammonia or other fuel for PIS vehicles and ships.

"Through this collaboration, PIS can also provide support to PGN to provide transportation services for LNG, ammonia, hydrogen, liquid CO2 and other commodities in the form of LNG carriers, FSRU, FRU, powership or other maritime transportation modes. In line with the commitment to suppress emissions in the maritime industry, this collaboration is also to realize the role of Pertamina Group in achieving the NZE 2060 target and its role during the current energy transition. We hope that this collaboration will be mutually beneficial and the study can run thoroughly so that this collaboration can be realized immediately," said Arief.

Yoki said that this collaboration is a form of synergy that can strengthen the Pertamina Group and commitment to serving Indonesia.

"PIS collaborates with PGN to utilize various fleets and infrastructure owned in the distribution of natural gas, which is located spread," he added.

Furthermore, PGN and PIS will see an option for joint ownership of LNG carriers or other maritime transportation modes as well as joint use of facilities owned by PIS such as the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal. Infinite to this, PGN and PIS conducted joint development studies, marine facilities and terminal storage using low-carbon fuel.

PGN provides support for the use of environmentally friendly fuel in the maritime industry. The business breakthrough that has been initiated is LNG Bunkering Services where LNG is an alternative fuel for ships.

In addition, PGN needs a maritime route to transport LNG to various locations that have not been reached by the natural gas pipeline network. So in addition to being able to expand PGN's business breakthrough to provide environmentally friendly fuels, this collaboration with PIS will be able to encourage business expansion in distributing natural gas to various regions.

"PGN realizes the importance of the maritime industry, both for energy fulfillment and supporting economic activities. Hopefully, in the future the synergy between PGN and PIS can run significantly, which in its implementation meets international rules, IMO, with the adoption of environmentally friendly energy-based technology," Arief concluded.
