Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources: Investment Value Of 16 Smelters In 2024 Achieves 11.6 Billion US Dollars

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) conveyed that the target of building 16 integrated mineral refining facilities or smelters in 2024 has an investment value of 11.6 billion US dollars. Acting Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Bambang Suswantono in a joint hearing with Commission VII of the DPR RI in Jakarta, Tuesday 19 March, said that the construction of the smelter in the mineral industry was divided into four sector categories, namely nickel, bauxite, iron, and copper. The 16 smelters consist of seven smelters in the nickel sector, seven smelters for bauxite, one iron sector smelter, and one smelter for the copper industry. "The copper smelter is targeted as much as one unit, 90 percent of the construction progress with a total investment value of 3.084 million US dollars," he said, quoted from Antara.

Selain itu dirinya mengatakan agar kebijakan hilirisasi di industri mineral lebih optimal dan efisien, pihaknya menerapkan strategi integrasi rantai pasok (supply chain) antara tambang dan smelter, melakukan pengintegrasian pelaku industri pengguna bahan olahan mineral yang masuk dalam kebijakan hilirisasi, serta menerapkan pengembangan industri lanjutan yang aplikatif.Hilirisasi yang sedang dijalankan oleh pemerintah di sektor mineral berdasarkan komoditasnya antara lain yakni besi, emas-perak, tembaga, timah, bauksit, dan nikel.
