JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) conveyed that the target of building 16 integrated mineral refining facilities or smelters in 2024 has an investment value of 11.6 billion US dollars. Acting Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Bambang Suswantono in a joint hearing with Commission VII of the DPR RI in Jakarta, Tuesday 19 March, said that the construction of the smelter in the mineral industry was divided into four sector categories, namely nickel, bauxite, iron, and copper. The 16 smelters consist of seven smelters in the nickel sector, seven smelters for bauxite, one iron sector smelter, and one smelter for the copper industry. "The copper smelter is targeted as much as one unit, 90 percent of the construction progress with a total investment value of 3.084 million US dollars," he said, quoted from Antara.
