A Subsidiary Of ASDP Strengthens Remote Feri Service

JAKARTA - PT Jembatan Nusantara (JN), one of the subsidiaries of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), continues to strengthen long-distance ferry services on 3 regular routes, namely Surabaya - Labuan Bajo, Surabaya Ende, and Balikpapan Pare-Pare and 2 deviation routes including Labuan Bajo Badas and Balikpapan Semarang.

"This step was taken by the company in carrying out its commitment to support the sustainability of national logistics," said ASDP Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 14.

He explained that ASDP through its subsidiary operates KMP Swarna Bahat with a distance of 462 miles from Surabaya Labuan Bajo with a time of 38 hours which can accommodate a capacity of up to 321 passengers, 100 units of two-wheeled vehicles, 30 units of small vehicles, 15 units of medium trucks, 4 units of large trucks and 9 units of tronton.

Meanwhile, the Balikpapan-Pare-pare route is operated by the Madani Nusantara ship 252 miles with a travel time of 23 hours with a capacity of up to 500 passengers, 100 units of two-wheeled vehicles, 30 units of small vehicles, 15 units of medium trucks, 4 units of large trucks, and 6 units of tronton.

In addition, the Nusantara Crown which also serves the Balikpapan - Pare-pare route can accommodate up to 217 people, 50 two-wheeled vehicles, 15 small vehicles, 15 medium trucks, and 30 large trucks. Based on the cargo, class V vehicles and upwards are the dominant charges for long-distance ferry services (LDF). The Balikpapan-Pare-pare route has a fairly high occupancy of almost 95 percent.

"The presence of LDF services will reduce congestion and road loads due to the large volume of vehicles as well as the dimensions and volume of vehicle loads that violate the provisions or over-dimension overload (ODOL). Thus, we help reduce the level of air pollution from the emission of road transportation gas," said Shelvy.

In addition, cross-LDF services will also encourage the growth of other sectors such as industry and trade, thus having a chain impact (multiplier effect), which is positive, especially the crossing route connecting Java, Kalimantan to East Nusa Tenggara.

In addition to services for long-distance crossings that reach the western corner to the eastern corner of the Nusantara region, JN also provides a mode of short-distance sea crossings covering 30 regions in Indonesia.

In terms of passenger safety, ASDP continues to encourage JN to monitor and check safety equipment, reliability of fleets and improve passenger services.

"Obviously we will continue to monitor and monitor to ensure security, reliability and availability of services, especially in the face of unexpected weather changes or marine conditions," Shelvy said.

The ship, including the captain and crew, routinely monitors weather developments through the BMKG website and receives a weather forecast for the next 7 days. In addition, close coordination with port and harbormaster/KSOP authorities is maintained all the time, especially in terms of evaluating conditions before departure and during ship voyages.

Not only that, for passenger safety, each fleet of PT Jembatan Nusantara ships always adheres to ship docking planning as well as routine testing and maintenance held annually to maintain the condition and performance of ships so that they can operate optimally.

The availability of emergency safety and security facilities such as Inflatable Life Craft, Life Jacket, and FireExtinguisher as well as emergency signal equipment such as Smoke Signal, Hand Flare, Holmes' Light, Man Overboard Alarm System, Parachute Rocket Flare continues to be checked.

Also equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as Radar, Echo Sounder to measure depth, and 24-hour surveillance with a Global Positioning System (GPS) that can be monitored directly through the Marine Traffic Automatic Identification System (AIS).
