Taking Advantage Of Ramadan Momentum, OJK Increases Financial Literacy And Inclusion

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to increase collaboration and synergy with various parties to encourage Islamic financial literacy and inclusion by optimizing the momentum of Ramadan 2024 or 1445 Hijri through the Gebyar Ramadan Islamic Finance program (GERAK Syariah) 2024.

The campaign is an OJK collaboration with stakeholders who drive Islamic finance, including Islamic Financial Services Business Actors (PUJKS), the Association of Sharia Financial Services Actors, Bank Indonesia (BI), the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, the National Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance (KNEKS), the Sharia Economic Community (MES), the Regional Financial Acceleration Team (TPAKD), Mass Media, influencers, religious leaders, and other Islamic financial driving figures.

Chief Executive of the Behavior Supervisory of Financial, Education and Protection Business Actors of OJK Consumers, Friderica Widyasari Dewi said, OJK will continue to collaborate and work together in an effort to increase the Islamic financial literacy and inclusion index in Indonesia.

Friderica said that based on the 2022 National Literacy and Financial Inclusion Survey, the new Islamic financial literacy and inclusion index reached 9.14 percent and 12.12 percent, both figures were much lower than the national financial literacy and inclusion index of 49.68 percent and 85.1 percent.

"OJK and all stakeholders continue to move to spread benefits and blessings through efforts to increase Islamic financial literacy and inclusion to the community collaboratively in order to reach all levels of society as wide as possible in the hope of being able to realize Indonesia as the center of the world's sharia economy," Friderica said in her official statement, Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

Friderica conveyed that she appreciated the efforts and activities that would be carried out by stakeholders to increase literacy and continue to encourage Islamic financial inclusion to the community in this month of Ramadan.

In the framework of a massive and equitable sharia financial campaign, OJK held Simultaneous Sharia GERAK at 35 OJK offices in the regions, collaborating with PUJKS and stakeholders in its working area, including the Regional Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance (KDEKS).

The Islamic financial campaign activities consist of 295 Islamic financial literacy, 124 Islamic financial inclusion activities, and 146 social activities combined with Islamic financial literacy/inclusion activities, with a total target of 786,929 educational participants, a total target of 2,074,419 people, and a total target of the community being involved in social activities combined with sharia financial literacy/inclusion activities as many as 669,347 people.

The GERAK Syariah activity itself has been officially opened today with two series of activities, namely Talkshow Islami which is filled with Islamic content creators, namely Habib Husein Ja'far, and continued by the Financial Education Webinar Momentum of World Consumer Rights Day which is filled by Greget Kalla Buana as an Islamic financial influencer.

The 2024 GERAK Syariah activity was preceded by the activities of Tarhib Ramadan and Road To GERAK Syariah 2024 on Friday, March 8, 2024, which was filled with sharia financial education webinars featuring the National Dai, namely Ustadz Hilman Fauzi and influencer Prita Ghozie attended by around 2,200 online participants.

GERAK Syariah 2024 will last until April 10, 2024 with two main series of activities, namely KOLAK (Study and Chat around Islamic Finance) and KURMA (Sharia Finance Competition in Ramadan). KOLAK will be filled with webinar activities, podcasts, radio talk shows, and education on social media.

Meanwhile, KURMA consists of various competitions / quizzes, namely the Sharia Financial Quantum Competition, Sharia Financial Education Reels Competition, Hadrah Competition, Call for Content Competition, and Weekly Kuis. The 2024 Sharia GERAK Committee prepared prizes with a total of IDR 80 million, e-certificate and various other interesting prizes. The entire series of activities regarding the 2024 Sharia GERAK will be updated through the official social media channel of the Financial Services Authority and Your Attitudes.
