JAKARTA - President Director of the Health Social Security Administration (BPJS) Ali Ghufron Mukti said the use of information and communication technology in the National Health Insurance (JKN) program is proof of BPJS Kesehatan's commitment to improving service quality for the community.

"This breakthrough is proof of BPJS Kesehatan's commitment to improving service quality throughout customer travel through information technology innovation," said Ali Ghufron Mukti at The 17th ISSA International Conference on Information and Communication Technology in Social Security (ICT 2024), in Nusa Dua, Bali, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, March 6.

He said that currently the BPJS Health system has been integrated with more than 950 thousand payment channels, 27 thousand health facilities consisting of three thousand hospitals, 22 thousand health centers or family doctors, and two thousand pharmacies, and more than 100 million data flow or transactions per day.

"Through the use of information and communication technology, there are many benefits felt by the JKN program participants," he said.

Ali Ghufron Mukti said one simple example was the shorter waiting time for queues by utilizing the online queue system.

"As an illustration, before using an online queue system, queues at health facilities can reach eight hours or even more. Now, with the implementation of online queues, participants can adjust waiting times at health facilities to only about two hours," he said.

BPJS Kesehatan has also developed various innovations to improve participant services at health facilities, including the use of facial recognition and artificial intelligence (AI) technology, electronic queues connected to the Mobile JKN application, displaying information on the availability of beds, displaying operating schedule information and facilitating referrals for Hemodialysis and Thalassemia services at hospitals.

BPJS Kesehatan juga telah memanfaatkan Artificial Intelligence (AI) dalam upaya pencegahan penipuan yang dilakukan pada proses penverifikan klaim layanan berbasis digital yaitu Vedika.

BPJS Kesehatan is also developing the use of biometrics, data analysis technology, and machine learning.

Most recently, BPJS Kesehatan has developed the JKN I-Care, namely the JKN Integrated Medical Record, which is able to display a detailed history of patient health services over the past year which can be accessed by medical officers or doctors at health facilities throughout Indonesia.

"This innovation will help patients and doctors to provide more precise and rapid medical procedures and diagnosis," said Ali Ghufron Mukti.
