Pelindo: Lematang-Panjang Toll Road In Lampung Supports Accessibility Of Trade

JAKARTA - General Manager (GM) of Pelindo Regional II Panjang Imam Rahmiyadi said that the plan to connect access to the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) Lematang toll gate with Panjang Port can support the accessibility of trade traffic.

"We support the connectivity of the Lematang Toll Road to Panjang Port, moreover this is planned to be included in a national strategic project," said General Manager (GM) of Pelindo Regional II Panjang Imam Rahmiyadi in Bandarlampung, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, March 5.

He said that connecting the Lematang toll gate to Panjang Port could support trade accessibility in Lampung.

"Of course this connectivity will facilitate export or import trade activities. Because Panjang Port is the best choice for exports because large ships can enter, and from an economic scale it is cheaper and more effective than using small vessels moving or double handling," he said.

He explained that the connected Lematang-Pelahan Panjang Toll Road will attract investment for regions because of the ease of accessibility of trade traffic.

"Moreover, if the toll road from Jambi-Palembang-Lampung is connected, then investment and trade will be supported through the Panjang Port so that it will be more stretched. Because this Panjang Port is one of the proud ports in Sumatra," he said.

According to him, to improve trading services at Panjang Port, dry bulk and liquid bulk services will also be prepared by providing additional tanks at the liquid and dry bulk terminals.

"With this connectivity, of course, more and more people want to invest, so we will improve our services by preparing additional tanks, one of which is for liquid bulk from palm oil derivatives, and a molase tank will also be made. Because Lampung produces wood and sugar sweet potatoes," he added.

He is also ready to integrate services in ports with industry. As well as potential in Lampung to support regional economic growth.

"We will try to integrate it with industries in Lampung so that its services are easier, especially with the ease of accessibility through the connectivity of the Lematang-Pelabuhan Panjang Toll Road. In addition, there is attention from the Governor of Lampung to connect this toll road to Pahawang to increase tourism," he said again.

Previously, in 2023, in preparing a plan to connect the Lematang Toll Road to Panjang Port, the Lampung Provincial Government had conducted a study of three toll road tracing options from the previous 20 routes proposed.

The study was carried out in the form of studies on the environment, geography, social, financing so that the chosen road route was an economical and efficient road route for use.

The three alternative routes are planned to spread from the south and there are also those passing north through the toll exit.
