International Events Encourage Interest Investors To Build Accommodation In Lake Toba

JAKARTA - The event of various events or activities in Lake Toba, North Sumatra has actually encouraged investors to develop accommodation there.

Most recently, a 5-star hotel has been built in Samosir Regency.

InJourney Tourism Marketing and Program Director Maya Watono explained that the presence of various international standard events in Lake Toba, which was successfully held, actually sparked the entry of investors into the area.

One of the events that will be held in Lake Toba in the near future is the motorcycle boat racing event, F1 Powerboat on March 2-4. Then it will be continued with the implementation of side events or side activities, namely the Aquabike national championship (kewarnas).

"In fact, this event is a trigger for investors to build various accommodations around Donna Toba," he said at a virtual press conference for the readiness of F1 Powerboat Lake Toba 2024, Tuesday, February 27.

For example, continued Maya, a 5-star hotel has been built in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra. The presence of this hotel is expected to support tourism in Lake Toba.

Last week we just inaugurated a 5-star hotel in Samosir. In one year there is this event, we have an additional 5-bit hotel in Samosir," he said.

Maya admits that accommodation around the vanue or location of the F1 Powerboat event in Balige does not accommodate enough visitors. Therefore, she said the current solution is to increase the number of homestays.

"In Balige, there are additional rooms and several hotels. But the speed is not this fast. So indeed we collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for homestays, for homestay data collection, room data collection and also several hotels that are official partners," he explained.

On the other hand, Maya said, building accommodation is not easy. In fact, it is not enough within one year to be ready immediately.

"Indeed, building this accommodation is not easy, it's not as easy as turning the palm of the hand. But there is a construction that takes time, it can't take a year to build a lot of hotels. There must have been a sustainable effort for 2-3 years," he said.
