Groundbreaking IKN Phase 5 Scheduled For Thursday And Friday This Week

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that the laying of the first stone or groundbreaking for the fifth phase in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 29 - March 1, 2024.

This was conveyed by the Head of the IKN Development Task Force (Kasatgas) of the Ministry of PUPR Danis H Sumadilaga on the agenda Towards the New Capital City of the Archipelago: Financing and Readiness of Infrastructure in Jakarta, Monday, February 26.

"The fifth groundbreaking is on Thursday and Friday, February 29 and March 1. Only two days," said Danis.

Based on the sector, Danis said, the groundbreaking would include a number of financial industries, such as PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) to PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI).

"So, what I know is that BRI, Mandiri are in the process. What I remember is BPJS, then it looks like the financial sectors," he said.

Even so, Danis did not specify how much investment value would be in the fifth phase of the groundbreaking.

As previously reported, the Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) leaked the schedule for laying the first stone or groundbreaking for the fifth phase of the private project at IKN.

"The target is that in the next few weeks there will be another groundbreaking for development, increasing again and until we believe in the policies produced by the government through investment," said OIKN Deputy for Funding and Investment Agung Wicaksono in Jakarta, Monday, February 19.

Agung said that the groundbreaking of the fifth private investor in the future will be focused on the banking sector.

"We will see later from the readiness of the date, but the sector we focus on is banking. Why? Bank Indonesia (BI) has entered, LPS too," he said.

Then, there is the LPS building in IKN which is also being built and later followed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Building and together with banks forming mini financial centers.

As for now, there have been four groundbreakings by private investors at IKN which have been going on for four periods, namely stages 1,2,3 and 4.

Groundbreaking phase 1 takes place in September 2023, phase 2 will be held 1-3 November 2023, the third stage will be carried out on 20-21 December 2023.

Then, for the fourth stage of groundbreaking itself, it was only carried out on January 17, 2024.

As of January 2024, the total investment value that has been included in the IKN project has reached IDR 47.5 trillion.
