PT PLN (Persero) inaugurated the Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) or the first Hydrogen Charging Station in Indonesia today, Wednesday, February 21.

"I congratulate PLN on the operation of the first HRS Senayan in Indonesia. I am sure that through this inauguration PLN shows real work and concrete evidence that hydrogen's energy is a necessity for Indonesia," said Acting Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Jisman P. Hutajulu when inaugurating HRS in Senayan, Wednesday, February 21.

PLN's Main Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, said that there are 3 HRS Senayan services, including refueling services for hydrogen cars, electric car charging services and hydrogen centers, which are the first and most complete hydrogen training centers in Indonesia.

"We built hydrogen from upstream, namely production at 21 plants. In this case, we were able to produce 128 tons of hydrogen grene for a year. This is capable of supplying 430 hydrogen fuel cells if assuming 100 kilometers per day," said Darmawan.

Previously, he said, PLN had inaugurated the operation of 21 Green Hydrogen Plants (Green Hydrogen Plant) in November 2023.

Darmawan further explained, currently HRS is used based on 350 bars of pressure and will then be added to HRS based on 700 bars so that it can increasingly serve the needs of hydrogen-based vehicles.

Darmawan emphasized that HRS is not yet operating commercially because it is still a pilot project with the aim of exploring the use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel for the community.

"This is only a pilot project with the aim of being able to explore technical, operational and commercial visibility as well as regulations," concluded Darmawan.
