KCI Needs IDR 9 Trillion Funds For Procurement And Rejuvenation Of KRL

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) or KAI Commuter requires a budget of IDR 9 trillion for the procurement of Electric Rail Trains (KRL), both from the production of PT INKA (Persero) and imports, as well as rejuvenation (retrofit).

KCI VP Corporate Secretary, Anne Purba explained that the procurement of KRL which has contracted or collaborated with several parties is worth IDR 6.84 trillion.

In detail, the procurement of 16 new KRL by PT INKA with a total investment of IDR 3.83 trillion. Then, the procurement of 19 series of retrofit KRL by PT INKA with a total investment of more than IDR 2.23 trillion, as well as the procurement of 3 new KRL imported from CRRC Sifang, China, with a total investment of IDR 783 billion.

Anne said, her party also opened up the possibility of additional new 8 KRL procurement. With this addition, continued Anne, the total funding needed by KCI is IDR 9 trillion.

"So what we need until there are 8 new trains, yes, it can reach more than Rp. 9 trillion with current currency, right, this will continue to change," he said at a press conference, at the KCI office, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 6.

Anne said that all KRL procurement financing came from KAI Commuter loans amounting to Rp3.5 trillion. Then, Shareholder Loans from PT KAI (Persero) were approximately Rp800 billion, and State Capital Participation (PMN) was around Rp5-5.5 trillion.

Furthermore, Anne explained that the procurement of the new 8 KRLs is also still in preparation by looking at the production capacity of PT INKA (Persero). According to Anne, the additional 8 new KRL funding will be included in the PMN allocation.

"Because from our financial side (KCI) we need help, because the procurement of KRL from INKA, which has been signed by 16 earlier, we also assisted KAI with a shareholder loan of Rp800 billion," he explained.
