Minister Teten Mau UMKM RI Like Japan And South Korea

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki emphasized that Indonesian MSMEs must be part of the industrial supply chain. This is because Indonesia has the potential to become a developed country with a minimum per capita income of 13,000 US dollars.

"In developed countries such as Japan and South Korea, MSMEs are part of the'supply chain industry' or industrial supply chain," said Minister Teten in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, February 2.

Teten assessed that MSMEs cannot be technological leaps if they are not members of the industry (sok chain).

"What we need is how we have a leap to get that way," he said.

He is of the view that if domestic MSMEs are not encouraged to become part of the industrial supply chain, it will be difficult for Indonesia to reach revenue of 13,000 US dollars towards Indonesia Gold 2045.

"If nothing changes, it is impossible to achieve that income to reach 2045," said Teten.

In order to achieve this, Teten explained that there are various efforts that can be made. One of them is by giving birth to more entrepreneurs and realizing a new economy through an innovation-based incubation approach and technology to produce competitive new products.

According to Teten, new educated entrepreneurs can attend from campuses. "We need an entrepreneurial approach like this, it can't just be preliminary training. We have to choose good eggs to eat and grow," he said.

Furthermore, Teten said that to develop incubator institutions on campus, his party wanted campuses to emphasize this.

"Our survey states that 72 percent of students want to become entrepreneurs. This is being discussed to be developed with the rectors of universities," he said.
