JAKARTA - Indonesia needs a budget of IDR 22.08 trillion to meet the electrification ratio of up to 100 percent.

The Directorate General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jisman Hutajulu, detailed that the budget will be used for network expansion, construction of communal plants using local energy and the Electricity Distribution Equipment Program (APDAL) in residents' homes and Electric Energy Charging Stations (SPEL) which utilize sunlight through solar panels as a source of energy.

The electrification ratio in 2023 was recorded at 99.78 percent, with details of 185,662 households not yet electrified and as many as 140 villages were not yet electrified.

Based on its composition, the electrification ratio that has been electrified by PLN is 98.32 percent and non-PLN electricity is 1.46 percent.

"If there is a more stable PLN. Why is there a difference of 1 percent because in the past there used to be a long term service agreement (LTSA), then there was another ministry program that used PLTS in remote areas. We also calculate the discussion of the use of PLTMH," said Jisman at a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, January 18.

Jisman said that in the future in order to achieve network reliability, all electricity will be handled by PLN as a state-owned electricity company that is considered better than self-management.

Another reason is that electricity managed by PLN is cheaper than self-management.

In addition, electricity sourced from PLN will also receive subsidies.

"We have calculated RE, the update from PLN calculates that the RE budget is 100 percent in the next 2 years, it will take IDR 22.08 trillion. Because access has not been flat in eastern parts of Indonesia, so the government must attend," continued Jisman.

Regarding the funds for the increase in RE, said Jisman PLN and the government still need capital participation from the state to illuminate areas that are not yet electrified.

Jisman also complained that the State Equity Participation (PMN) fund of Rp. 6.7 trillion had been canceled even though PLN had provided village electricity contracts of Rp. 4.5 trillion.

"We still hope that the Government and this matter the Ministry of Finance provides so that it can be completed quickly. 78 years of independence but it is still pitch black," concluded Jisman.
